KUCHING, Feb 8: A total of 250 families in Lundu have received food baskets under the Yayasan PETRONAS Memacu Kehidupan (Uplifting Lives) programme, which aims to support underprivileged members of the local Chinese community for the Chinese New Year celebration.

Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan praised the initiative as a reflection of PETRONAS’ commitment to social inclusivity, aligning with Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which focuses on ensuring no community is left behind as the state develops.

He also expressed hope that Lundu would continue to be included in future festive programmes, such as those for Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya.

PETRONAS Sarawak senior general manager, Anuar Ismail, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Sejahtera MADANI agenda, aiming to improve the economic and social well-being of communities across Malaysia.

This year, he said Yayasan PETRONAS plans to bring joy to 2,100 families by distributing food baskets.

In Sarawak, PETRONAS collaborated with District Offices and the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKM) to identify 500 recipient families across Lundu, Bintulu, and Sibuti.

Anuar expressed gratitude for the successful partnership between PETRONAS, the Lundu District Office, the Lundu Chinese Community Association, and the local community, which helped make the programme a success. – TVS
