RM100,000 flood aid mission to Kelantan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Farmers Organisation Authority (LPP) yesterday launched a post-flood aid mission through the Ihsan Madani Squad, allocating RM100,000, to assist affected areas in Rantau Panjang and Tumpat in Kelantan.
Its director-general, Amir Matamin, said the aid, comprising daily necessities, would be distributed to various crucial locations, such as mosques, LPP members’ homes, Area Farmers Organisation premises and temporary evacuation centres.
“This mission involves 89 volunteers from the authority’s branches in Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Kelantan, as well as the Farmers Mechanisation and Automation Training Institute and the National Farmers Organisation (Nafas).
“With the cooperation of the Civil Defence Force, the mission began today (yesterday) and is expected to conclude on Saturday.
“However, if necessary, it may be extended,” he said at the volunteer send-off ceremony here yesterday.
Present were LPP deputy director-general (operations) Nik Mohd Shaharil Nik Md Hashim and deputy director-general (development) Mohd Fauzi Badron, as well as Nafas general manager Muhammad Faris Ariffin
The LPP branch of the Association of Wives and Women Civil Servants of Malaysia also contributed various daily necessities, such as cleaning supplies, personal hygiene kits, disposable diapers for children and readyto-eat food.
Amir said the spirit of cooperation among all the parties in the aid mission, including the Farmers Mechanisation and Automation Training Institute and Nafas, reflected their solidarity in aiding disaster victims.
