Banjir: Lebih 30 rumah hanya tinggal nampak bumbung di Kampung Mial

KUALA KRAI: Berat mata memandang, berat lagi bahu yang memikulnya - itu keadaan yang dialami hampir 200 penduduk Kampung Mial, di sini, apabila sekurang-kurang 37 rumah telah ditenggelami banjir hingga paras bumbung.

Setakat ini, kampung berkenaan sudah dinaiki air mencecah lebih lima meter (m) susulan hujan lebat berterusan sejak beberapa hari lalu.

Penduduk, Hanapi Ali, 64, berkata lebih-lebih lagi kampung berkenaan dikelilingi sungai menyebabkan limpahan airnya memenuhi kawasan penempatan itu.

Katanya, hasil tinjauan dilakukan penduduk sendiri mendapati 37 daripada 60 kediaman di kampung itu hanya tinggal nampak bumbung, setakat pagi semalam.

Malah, beliau berkata, penduduk di beberapa perkampungan juga terputus hubungan selepas jambatan yang menjadi laluan utama untuk ke Bandar Kuala Krai ditenggelami banjir.

"Situasi banjir kali ini adalah di luar jangkaan. Penduduk berharap hujan segera reda kerana bimbang kejadian bencana sama 10 tahun lalu kembali berulang," katanya.

Hanapi memaklumkan, rumahnya ialah antara kediaman yang ditenggelami banjir hingga ke paras bumbung, dan beliau sekeluarga kini berlindung di Pusat Pemindahan Sementara (PPD) Balai Raya Kampung Mial.

"Bagaimanapun, kami sekeluarga reda dengan ujian daripada Allah SWT dan berharap keadaan kembali seperti biasa dalam masa terdekat," katanya.

 

TNB nafi lepaskan air Empangan Pergau di Kelantan

KOTA BHARU: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) menafikan dakwaan akan melepaskan air Empangan Pergau seperti yang tular di media sosial.

TNB Careline menerusi Facebook memaklumkan setakat ini paras air Empangan Pergau masih terkawal.

"TNB ingin memaklumkan bahawa mesej tular yang kononnya Empangan Pergau, Kelantan akan melepaskan air adalah tidak benar. "Pada masa ini, paras air di empangan Pergau berada pada paras normal dan terkawal.

"Pengurusan stesen juga memaklumkan status terkini empangan kepada agensi-agensi kerajaan yang berkaitan dan Jawatankuasa Bencana Daerah Jeli," katanya.

Katanya, orang ramai dinasihatkan supaya tidak menyebarkan maklumat palsu yang boleh menimbulkan kegusaran di kalangan masyarakat.

 

Banjir makin buruk, mangsa hampir 75,000 orang di 7 negeri

KUALA LUMPUR: Jumlah penduduk terjejas akibat banjir yang melanda tujuh negeri membabitkan Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Perlis, Perak dan Selangor terus meningkat kepada 74,173 mangsa daripada 22,966 keluarga setakat jam 7.30 pagi ini.

Berdasarkan maklumat portal Info Bencana Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM), sebanyak 501 pusat pemindahan sementara (PPS) di seluruh negara.

Kelantan masih merekodkan angka mangsa banjir tertinggi dengan 59,232 orang yang membabitkan 18,471 keluarga yang ditempatkan di 221 PPS di 10 daerah negeri berkenaan.

Di Terengganu, seramai 11,870 mangsa banjir (3,461 keluarga) sedang berlindung di 235 PPS yang beroperasi di lapan daerah, manakala di Kedah, 31 PPS dibuka di lima daerah yang menempatkan 2,237 mangsa banjir (778 keluarga).

Di Negeri Sembilan pula, enam PPS sedang beroperasi yang menempatkan 274 mangsa (96 keluarga) di dua daerah manakala di Perlis 332 mangsa banjir daripada 99 keluarga di empat PPS di tiga daerah.

Di Selangor, jumlah mangsa banjir meningkat kepada 159 orang membabitkan 39 keluarga manakala di Perak membabitkan dua daerah dengan 69 keluarga daripada 22 keluarga.

Daripada jumlah keseluruhan mangsa banjir, seramai 24,285 (32.74 peratus) adalah lelaki dewasa; 25,915 (34.94 peratus) perempuan dewasa; 11,187 (15.08 peratus) kanak-kanak lelaki; 10,729 (14.46 peratus) kanak-kanak perempuan; 1,098 (1.48 peratus) bayi lelaki; dan 960 (1.3 peratus) bayi perempuan.

Daripada jumlah keseluruhan itu, 2,638 mangsa (3.56 peratus) lelaki warga emas; 3,078 (4.15 peratus) wanita warga emas; 1,288 (1.74 peratus) orang kurang upaya (OKU) lelaki; dan 960 (1.30 peratus) OKU perempuan.

 

Floods: 34 relief centres opened in Kedah after five districts hit

ALOR SETAR: A total of 34 temporary relief centres have been activated in Kedah after five districts flooded.

State Civil Defence Force (APM) deputy director Major Mohd Suhaimi Mohd Zain said as of 8am Friday (Nov 29) 4,378 people from 1,432 families were seeking shelter at these centres.

"The districts affected are Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Sik and Padang Tetap," he said.

Suhaimi said Kubang Pasu is the worst-hit district with 1,708 victims from 600 families in 13 centres.

This was followed by Padang Terap with 1,145 victims from 338 families at nine centres, and Sik with 361 victims from 124 families in six centres.

In Kota Setar, 735 evacuees from 230 families were relocated to three centres while 429 victims from 140 families were taken to three centres after their homes were flooded.

Suhaimi said the flood has affected more than 60 villages in the five districts after heavy rain over the last two days.

He said at least eight locations near rivers in the state are in the red zone after their levels showed sharp increases.

"Villagers are advised to follow instructions to evacuate when necessary. Please prepare all important documents if the situation worsens," he said.

Suhaimi added that the situation was under control for now.

Meanwhile in PERLIS, 488 victims from 145 families were evacuated to four centres in Padang Besar, Kangar and Atau.

Perlis APM operations officer Capt Saifuddin Abdullah said one centre each was activated in Padang Besar and Kangar while two were opened in Arau as of 8am Friday.

"The weather has improved, but the victims will be staying at the centres for now," he added.

Total flood victims soar this morning, highest in Kelantan

KUALA LUMPUR: The continuous rain has caused the number of flood victims in several states to increase sharply, with the highest number in Kelantan, with 59,232 people evacuated to 221 temporary relief centres as of this morning, compared to 50,947 people in 207 relief centres last night.

The Social Welfare Department's Disaster Info Portal reported that Pasir Mas district still recorded the highest number of victims, at 22,156 people in 53 relief centres, followed by Tumpat (8,434 victims, 17 relief centres); Kota Baru (5,944 victims, 31 relief centres); Kuala Krai (5,253 victims, 39 relief centres); Tanah Merah (4,366 victims, 26 relief centres) and Bachok (2,844 victims, eight relief centres).

Other districts also affected by the disaster were Pasir Puteh (4,956 victims, 21 relief centres); Machang (4,395 victims, 20 relief centres); Jeli (838 victims, five relief centres) and Gua Musang (46 victims, one relief centre).
 

he Irrigation and Drainage Department portal as of 8am also informed that several major rivers in Kelantan have recorded readings exceeding the danger level, namely Sungai Lanas in Jeli with a reading of 28.78 metres, Sungai Kelantan in Kuala Krai (25.17 m), Sungai Kelantan in Tambatan Diraja (5.58 metres), Sungai Golok in Kampung Jenob (28.79 m) and Sungai Sokor in Kampung Sokor (33.92 m).

In addition, Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang is also currently at 11.50m, exceeding the danger limit of nine metres and the Bradley Steps in Kuala Krai at 25.25m.

In TERENGGANU, 20,911 people from 5,916 families were taking shelter in 232 relief centres as of 8am Friday (Nov 29) compared to 17,762 people at 8pm on Thursday (Nov 28).

The Terengganu State Disaster Management Committee secretariat informed that the latest figures involved seven affected districts with Besut having the highest number of 9,338 victims in 96 relief centres, followed by Hulu Terengganu (4,333 victims), Setiu (4,255 victims), Kemaman (1,534 victims), Dungun (709 victims), Marang (668 victims), and Kuala Nerus (74 victims).

A check on the InfoBanjir portal showed that water level readings at nine stations were at danger levels, six of which were in Setiu, including Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap and Sungai Setiu in Jambatan Permaisuri and Kampung Bukit.

In Kemaman district, it involves the Sungai Kemaman station at Rumah Pam Paya Paman while Dungun involves the Sungai Dungun station in Kuala Dungun and at the Jerangau Bridge.

In KEDAH, the number of flood victims has reached 4,378 people from 1,432 families as of Friday morning compared to 2,210 people from 717 families last night.

Kedah Civil Defence Force deputy director Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain said all victims in five districts, namely Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena and Sik, were placed in 34 relief centres.

He said Kubang Pasu recorded the highest number of victims with 1,708 people from 600 families in 13 relief centres, followed by Padang Terap (1,145 families from 338 families who were placed in nine relief centres).

"Meanwhile in Kota Setar, 735 people from 230 families were placed in three relief centres, Pokok Sena, 429 people from 140 families in three relief centres and Sik, 361 people from 124 families were placed in six relief centres," he said in a statement.

Total flood victims also rose in PERLIS with 488 people from 145 families in relief centres as of 8am Thursday morning compared to 415 people from 125 families last night.

Perlis Civil Defence Force director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Izaimi Md Daud said all of them were taking shelter in four relief centres, namely at SK Guar Nangka and SK Arau for the Arau area while the other centres are SK Titi Tinggi (Padang Besar) and Dewan Warisan (Kangar).

He said SK Guar Nangka relief centres have 73 flood victims, SK Arau PPS (175 people), SK Titi Tinggi PPS (131 people) and Dewan Warisan PPS (109 people).

In PERAK, the State Disaster Management Committee secretariat informed that a relief centre had been opened at 11pm on Thursday (Nov 28), bringing the total number operating as of this morning to three.

A total of 20 victims from seven families were placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Parit Haji Aman relief centre in Kerian, while 49 victims from 15 families were placed at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Klah Baru relief centre, Batang Padang.

In addition, the secretariat also informed that Sungai Rui in Gerik, was at the warning level with a reading of 165.52 metres compared to the normal level of 165.10 metres.

In NEGRI SEMBILAN, the Disaster Information website reported that a total of 291 victims from 100 families were placed in eight relief centres involving two districts, namely Kuala Pilah and Tampin as of 8.30am.

The relief centres are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Keru, SK Gedok, SK Felda Sungai Kelamah, Dewan Felda Jelai 4, Masjid Felda Jelai 4 in Tampin; as well as Dewan Orang Ramai Dangi, SK Undang Johol and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Kampung Baru Kepis in Kuala Pilah with the number of victims still being updated. - Bernama
