SDMC: More evacuees sheltering at temporary centres in Sibu, Bintulu

KUCHING (Feb 7): The number of evacuees at temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in Sibu and Bintulu rose slightly today.
The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in an update the number of evacuees at Kanowit Sports Centre PPS rose from 183 at midnight to 190 at 8am.
The PPS at the Selangau multipurpose hall and SK Bukit Arip recorded one additional evacuee each, bringing the total number of evacuees to 239 and 150 respectively.
In Bintulu, the Bintulu Civic Centre PPS saw an increase from 717 evacuees as of midnight to 891 at 8am today.
The SMK Tatau PPS also saw an increase from 419 evacuees to 427.
However, the number of evacuees at Stadium Muhibbah Bintulu saw a dip from 450 to 423 this morning.
There are now 4,905 evacuees from 1,568 families seeking shelter at centres across the state.
With no additional PPS activated or closed as of 8am, the number of active centres throughout Sarawak stood at 26.
