Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: Several states in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as Sabah, are expected to experience adverse weather this evening.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement, issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for Penang, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, and Melaka. The warning is in effect until 6.30pm today.

Most parts of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan are also expected to be affected.

In Pahang, the affected areas include Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, and Mentong. In Kelantan, the districts of Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang are expected to experience adverse weather.

Four districts in Terengganu will also be affected.

 

In Johor, the northern districts, including Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, and Batu Pahat, are expected to face heavy rain and thunderstorms. In Kedah, the affected areas include Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu.

Several areas in Sabah, including Tenom, Nabawan, Papar, and Tawau, are also expected to experience adverse weather.
