KUCHING (Feb 5): Several houses at Kampung Krusen Siu in Serian are at risk of landslides following the rainy weather.

In this regard, Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada, as the area’s elected representative, urged the residents to take early steps to prevent unwanted incidents.

He advised residents, in collaboration with the village chief, to carry out intervention work such as installing gutters or canvas to cover areas exposed to rain.

“This is to prevent landslides before external assistance arrives,” he was quoted as saying by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).

On Tuesday, Dr Sinang visited several sites in Kampung Krusen Siu, Reteh Plaman, Mawang, Kampung Bidak Plaman and also in Kampung Daha Seroban.

He assured constituents that he would work to find the best solution to repair the damaged infrastructure, especially the road embankment to Kampung Reteh Mawang.
