BELAGA (Jan 25): A section of Jalan Jiwa Murni here became impassable after a landslide occurred Saturday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement said they received a call regarding the landslide at 10.31am, and immediately deployed three personnel from the Belaga fire station to the location.

The Belaga Public Works Department (JKR) also despatched three of its personnel to check on the situation.

“When the rescue team arrived at the scene, the found the road had completely collapsed, cutting off access between Belaga town and Bintulu town. Members of the public managed to create a temporary path at the side of the road to allow a single car to pass,” it stated.

JKR Belaga informed they would try to construct an alternative route as soon as possible.

Bomba said it would report the incident to the Belaga Disaster Management Committee for further action.

After gathering information and ensuring the situation was under control, the operations team wrapped up operations.

No casualties were reported.
