KUALA LUMPUR: Ribut petir atau hujan lebat diramal berlaku di hampir semua negeri hingga 4 petang ini, menurut Jabatan Meteorologi Malaysia (METMalaysia).
Menerusi amaran dikeluarkan pada 1.45 tengah hari ini, METMalaysia memaklumkan ribut petir atau hujan lebat dijangka melanda seluruh Perlis, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya dan Melaka.
Keadaan cuaca sama dijangka melanda sebilangan besar Sabah termasuk Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Keningau, Nabawan, Tambunan, Kinabatangan, Beluran serta Sandakan selain di Terengganu iaitu di Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun dan Kemaman.
Di Perak, keadaan sama dijangka berlaku antaranya di Larut, Matang, Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kampar, Kinta dan Muallim; Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat dan Sepang) serta Pahang (Jerantut dan Maran).
METMalaysia turut meramalkan cuaca sama di Negeri Sembilan iaitu Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau dan Tampin; Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat dan Pontian) serta Kuala Krai di Kelantan.
Turut dijangka mengalami ribut petir dan hujan lebat adalah Kuching, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei, Mukah, Miri dan Limbang di Sarawak.

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) Directive No. 1 will serve as the main guideline for disaster management to reduce the risks and impacts of disasters in the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the directive underscored a more comprehensive and inclusive risk management strategy.
“I would also like to emphasise that preparations for the upcoming Northeast Monsoon season are not just about current readiness but also involve continuous measures to monitor flood-prone hotspots, ensure there are adequate temporary evacuation centres, and coordinate assistance for all those affected by disasters,“ he said in a Facebook post, commenting on the Central Disaster Management Committee (JPBP) meeting, which he chaired in Kota Tinggi, Johor, today.
He added that all Disaster Management Committees at the state and district levels had been instructed to conduct integrated simulations and drills to ensure optimal preparedness of residents and local authorities.
“Early coordination between government agencies, district councils, voluntary organisations, and local communities is crucial to ensure swift action can be taken in the event of a disaster. The public is also reminded to stay updated through the official disaster portal at www.portalbencana.nadma.gov.my.
“Cooperation from all parties is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of the people,“ he said.
KOTA TINGGI: The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) has identified 4,619 flood hotspots nationwide as part of preparations for the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) this year.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said continuous flood monitoring would be carried out by JPS through the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) with the support of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), the Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia), and the state governments.
He said this included placing 543 flood warning sirens and 737 mobile pumps nationwide, while also suggesting that an allocation be made to purchase more mobile pumps.
He added that JPS would also monitor dams that were more than 50 years old, especially those with large and high water volumes, and identify necessary intervention measures.
“Flood mitigation projects across the country must also be closely monitored to prevent any delays in reducing the impact of floods,“ he said in a statement today.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid chaired the second Central Disaster Management Committee Meeting for 2024, which was also attended by the state secretaries as the chairmen of their respective State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) as well as technical and response agencies, here.
As the chairman of the Central Disaster Management Committee, Ahmad Zahid said the Social Welfare Department (JKM) had identified 8,481 temporary evacuation centres capable of accommodating 2.15 million flood victims, while basic amenities would also be given due attention.
He noted that unlimited food assistance would also be provided to those affected by the MTL and other disasters throughout the year, while also urging state governments to immediately distribute funds provided through NADMA to districts, especially those at high risk, to prepare for flooding.
Ahmad Zahid also said that MET Malaysia had informed that the MTL was expected to begin in early November and last until March 2025, with wetter weather expected on the East of the Peninsular, as well as Sabah and Sarawak from November to December this year.
Meanwhile, from January to February 2025, he said wetter conditions were expected in Johor, Sarawak, and Sabah, with the La Niña phenomenon predicted to start at the end of 2024 and continue until mid-2025.
“The risk of major flooding will increase if heavy monsoon rains coincide with high tides and monsoon surges.
“It is expected that there will be five to seven monsoon surges, bringing episodes of heavy and continuous rainfall, particularly in the East Coast of the Peninsular, southern and western Sarawak, as well as northern and eastern Sabah,” he said, adding that rainfall was expected to decrease in the north of the Peninsular beginning in January 2025, and in the eastern parts of the Peninsular from February onwards, followed by hot and dry weather until May.
Kuala Lumpur: Seramai 1,968 mangsa membabitkan 480 keluarga dipindahkan ke enam pusat pemindahan sementara (PPS) berikutan banjir yang melanda tiga daerah sekitar Selangor, malam tadi.
Penolong Pengarah Bahagian Operasi Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM) Selangor, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar berkata, daerah terjejas adalah Shah Alam, Gombak dan Kuala Selangor.
"Seramai 1,968 mangsa daripada 480 keluarga diselamatkan oleh pasukan bomba yang ke lokasi bagi operasi banjir.
"Mereka ditempatkan di enam PPS dibuka di Dewan Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) Seri Pagi, Paya Jaras; Dewan Kenanga; Dewan MBSA Bunga Matahari; Dewan Majlis Perbandaran Selayang (MPS) Seri Kundang; Sekolah Rendah Agama Kuang; Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Aman," katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.
Beliau berkata, seramai 54 anggota dari enam Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Sungai Buloh, Bestari Jaya, Selayang, Batu Arang, Bukit Jelutong serta Dengkil terbabit operasi berkenaan.
Ahmad Mukhlis berkata, JBPM turut melakukan pemantauan di 21 lokasi dinaiki air antaranya di Kampung Kubu Gajah, Merbau Sempah, Kampung Cempedak di Kuang; Kampung Melayu Subang, dan Jalan Tembusu, Subang.
Katanya, pemantauan turut dilakukan di Kampung Sri Aman, Taman Saujana Aman, Kampung Parit Mahang di Kuala Selangor; Sungai Buah, Jambatan Sekolah Vokasional, Revolusi Hijau dan Pasar Dengkil di Sepang.
"Selain itu, Kampung Selayang Baru, Kampung Laksamana, Indian Sattlement di Selayang; Taman Rahmat Jaya Kundang, Lorong Utama 1, Lorong Setia 7, Kampung Melayu Sri Kundang, Lorong Haji Talib, Kampung Gombak dan Kampung Bunga Raya di Gombak," katanya.
JAKARTA: Gunung berapi paling aktif di Indonesia, Gunung Merapi, mengeluarkan 21 aliran lahar ke arah barat daya pada Khamis, menurut Pusat Penyelidikan dan Pengembangan Teknologi Kebencanaan Geologi, lapor Xinhua.
“Aliran lahar bergerak menuju Kali Bebeng, mencapai sehingga 1,500 meter,” kata Ketua Pusat, Agus Budi Santoso.
Pusat itu menggesa orang ramai untuk mengelakkan sebarang aktiviti di zon bahaya yang mungkin terjejas oleh aliran lahar dan awan panas.
“Data pemantauan menunjukkan bekalan magma masih berterusan, yang boleh mencetuskan awan panas dalam kawasan berpotensi bahaya,” kata Santoso.
Zon bahaya meliputi sehingga tujuh kilometer di sektor selatan-barat daya dan tiga kilometer ke tenggara gunung berapi. Sekiranya berlaku letusan letupan, bahan gunung berapi boleh mencapai sehingga tiga kilometer dari puncak.
Terletak di Jawa Tengah dan Yogyakarta, gunung berapi setinggi 2,968 meter ini kini berada di Tahap III, atau status waspada.
