Gerawat: Bomba airbase team to assist in Long Lellang helicopter crash probe

MIRI (Dept 8): The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Northern Region Airbase team will be deployed to Long Lellang tomorrow morning (Sept 9) to assist in the investigation into this afternoon’s Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash at Long Lellang STOLport, said Datuk Gerawat Gala.
The Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) expressed his deep sadness over the incident, describing it as particularly heartbreaking as Long Lellang is one of the remote areas that relies heavily on air services for access to healthcare and other basic services.
“The incident is deeply saddening, especially as Long Lellang is one of the remote areas that relies heavily on air services to access healthcare and basic services.
“I would like to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to all those affected by this tragedy, particularly the families and loved ones who are going through an extremely difficult time,” he said in a statement.
Gerawat, who is also Mulu assemblyman, extended his heartfelt condolences to those affected and prayed that all matters arising from the incident would be eased.
He also expressed his appreciation to security personnel, rescue teams, healthcare workers and members of the Long Lellang community who assisted at the scene.
