Agencies, developers to meet over PJ floods

PETALING JAYA:
Damansara MP Gobind Singh Deo has called for a meeting today involving government agencies and developers to draw up an action plan after the flash floods and landslide which recently affected several areas in Petaling Jaya.

According to Astro Awani, the meeting will involve the environment department, the drainage and irrigation department, the fire and rescue department, the Petaling Jaya City Council, developers, and other technical agencies.

Gobind, the DAP chairman, said the parties had been asked to submit proposals on immediate measures and long-term solutions to tackle flooding.

He said residents’ safety must remain the priority before any repairs or mitigation work is carried out, citing concerns over the condition of roads, riverbanks and nearby homes.

Heavy rain triggered flash floods across parts of the Klang Valley last Saturday. Popular food court Medan Selera 223, which was inundated, was among the affected areas.
