Continuous rain causes landslip, collapsing perimeter wall at Miri home

MIRI (Dec 10): A house at Tanjung Bunga 3 in Tanjung Lobang here sustained damage to its perimeter wall after it collapsed following a landslip triggered by continuous rainfall on Tuesday morning.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

In a statement, the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) said it received a distress call at 8.20am.

“Upon receiving the call, a team of six personnel was immediately despatched to the scene, located about six kilometres from the operation centre.

“At the scene, the team met with the complainant who related to them that he only became aware of the incident after being informed by his neighbour, who saw the perimeter wall collapsing as he was leaving the house,” the agency said.

The APM team conducted an assessment and confirmed that soil movement caused by continuous heavy rain led to the collapse of the wall, which subsequently obstructed a passageway in the area.

The agency said it will continue to monitor the situation to ensure there are no further incidents.
