KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across various regions in Malaysia, with warnings in effect until noon on Wednesday (June 25), said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In Selangor, areas including Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang are on alert. Both Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are also under the warning.

In Negeri Sembilan, districts such as Seremban, Port Dickson, and Rembau are expected to experience severe weather. The warning extends to Melaka.

In Johor, areas like Tangkak and Muar are forecasted to be affected. In Sarawak, the region of Limbang (Lawas) is on alert.

In Sabah, the Interior regions including Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and Beaufort, as well as the West Coast areas of Papar, Putatan, Penampang, and Kota Kinabalu, are expected to face adverse conditions.

Labuan is also included in the thunderstorm warning.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
