Thunderstorm warning for peninsula, parts of Sarawak until 10am

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for 11 states in the peninsula and parts of Sarawak.
The advisory, issued at 7.45am today, is in effect until 10am.
Affected areas in the peninsula include Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and Perak — specifically the districts of Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar and Bagan Datuk.
In Kelantan, the warning covers Kota Baru, Bachok and Pasir Puteh, while in Terengganu, it includes Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu.
Several areas in Selangor — Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang — are also affected, along with the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
In Negri Sembilan, Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau are affected, as well as the whole of Melaka.
In Sarawak, the affected areas are Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), and Bintulu (Tatau and Bintulu).
MetMalaysia advises the public to remain alert and take precautions during heavy rain and thunderstorms.
