Landslide tears through TTDI school grounds, crushing cars and hitting classrooms

KUALA LUMPUR – A landslide triggered by heavy rain this morning in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) caused damage to an international school and several vehicles, though no injuries were reported.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 7.18am and dispatched teams from the TTDI and Sri Hartamas stations to the scene.

Operations commander Azkhan Hamdan said firefighters conducted an initial assessment to ensure the area was safe upon arrival.

“The incident affected two vehicles and part of the school building, including classrooms, a staff room, toilets and the library,” the statement read.

He added that a safety evaluation, or ‘size-up’, was also carried out and confirmed that no one was harmed.

“Further action has been handed over to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL),” he said. – April 23, 2025
