Petronas task force to oversee Putra Heights recovery efforts

PETALING JAYA:

Petronas Gas has set up an independent task force to oversee investigative, recovery, and restoration efforts after the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

Restoration work at the site was in progress, including sheet piling for soil stabilisation, site excavation, and repairs, the company said.

It said it had contributed more than RM1.2 million in aid to those whose property was lost or damaged as a result of the explosion, and would continue to cooperate with efforts to determine the cause of the incident and to restore the pipelines.

Petronas Gas had previously said gas supply in Putra Heights could be restored as early as July 1, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations, regulatory approvals, and progress at the site.

The fire on April 1 engulfed a 500m section of a gas pipeline and destroyed 81 homes at Putra Heights, a suburb south of Subang Jaya, Selangor.
