Sg Buloh MP sends volunteers to help flash flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR: Volunteers from the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre helped residents in Taman Seri Alam, Saujana Utama affected by a flash flood after the collapse of a water retention pond bund on Sunday.

Sungai Buloh member of parliament Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said more than 50 houses were affected.

He deployed a team of volunteers to assess the situation and provide aid to those in need.

“The Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre is committed to ensuring residents’ welfare.

“We will work with community leaders and agencies on measures to prevent similar incidents.

“Hopefully, all matters will be resolved smoothly,” he said in a Facebook post.

Ramanan thanked the rescue teams, including the Fire and Rescue Department and police, for their swift response.

On Sunday, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 5.15pm.

The bund collapse caused water to overflow into the housing area. There were no injuries or fatalities.
