‘OVER 400 COPS AFFECTED BY FLOODS’

SOME 1,500 family members of 469 policemen in Kelantan have been affected by the first wave of floods, said Deputy InspectorGeneral of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

“I was told that 112 policemen here lost their homes due to the recent floods.

“I saw the extent of the damage to their houses during my visit today (yesterday) and it was a total loss.

“The cops were on duty when the incident happened.

“They couldn’t save all their belongings as floodwaters rose quickly.

“I have asked the state police to assist the 469 officers and their family members affected by the floods.

“The aid must cover all their needs,” he said after visiting Taman Sri Bayu here.

Ayob, who was accompanied by Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, handed over food aid and daily essentials to the affected policemen.
