No evacuations in Sepang

SEPANG: The Fire and Rescue Department is monitoring flood hotspots in Dengkil, Sepang and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

KLIA Fire and Rescue Station chief Razif Mohmad Haris said his team received several calls yesterday, but no evacuations were carried out following assessments.

“We received a report from Kampung Giching about rising water levels, but there was no need for evacuation because the water was ankle-deep,” he said.

“The rain has stopped and the water is starting to recede, reducing the risk of flooding. However, the department will be on standby for any eventuality.”

Riverview Homestay operator Datuk Ja’apar Mansor said the situation in Dengkil was safe despite rising water levels.

“There have been no evacuations, but it is quite worrying because water has been rising. But the rain has eased and everything is being made easier,” he said.

Heavy rain since Thursday caused water levels to rise in several areas, forcing the closure of roads in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi and Kota Warisan.
