Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected in Klang Valley, Johor, Melaka

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for the Klang Valley, Johor, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan, effective until 10am today.

In a statement, MetMalaysia said severe weather is also expected in parts of other states, including Kedah, Perak, Terengganu, Pahang, and Sabah.

In the Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and several districts in Selangor, including Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang, are expected to be affected.

Similar weather conditions are forecast for the entire states of Johor, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan.

Adverse weather is also expected in Kota Setar and Yan (Kedah), Kerian, and Larut, Matang and Selama (Perak), as well as Dungun and Kemaman (Terengganu).

 

Areas in Pahang such as Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin, and Tawau in Sabah are also expected to be affected.

"A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert that is valid for a period not exceeding six hours," MetMalaysia said.
