MIRI (March 25): The Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) Miri branch feted members of the press and volunteers at an appreciation dinner cum break of fast on Sunday night.
The volunteers had assisted the branch in distributing assistance during the February flood disaster here, while the media through their write-ups have given a voice to local entrepreneurs, said DUBS Miri chairman Mohammad Hafidz Rohani.
“DUBS Miri not only supports beneficial policies but also offers constructive criticism towards policies deemed burdensome to entrepreneurs here, and the media has been supporting us through their reports,” he said.
“We also thank the 20 volunteers who assisted us through the DUBSCares initiative by delivering aid to flood victims in Miri and Niah.”
Mohammad Hafidz said through contributions from DUBS members, approximately RM30,000 was collected and distributed in the form of food aid, hygiene kits, and transport services to those affected by the flood.
DUBS Miri had also helped clear nearly 30 tonnes of flood debris in several villages using machinery provided by the state government, he added.
“In fact, DUBS also assisted landslide victims in Kampung Lereng Bukit by levelling the ground in residential areas affected by the incident.
“This success demonstrates the spirit of togetherness and concern among DUBS members in helping the community,” he added.
Mohammad Hafidz also informed that DUBS Miri will be holding its annual general meeting this April 27, where new executive committee will be elected.
